SBBGC Cheerleading

SBBGC offers a variety of sports

SBBGC cheerleading

Our main objectives are:

  • Developing leadership skills
  • Teaching fundamentals (motions, jumps, cheers, chants, stunts)
  • Developing positive esteem
  • Improving team work

AGE REQUIREMENT: SBBGC cheer program is open for girl’s ages 5-14 years of age.

REGISTRATION:
Please see the South Bowie Calendar (club calendar icon) for registration information.

SEASON DURATION:
The season runs from mid-August to early November.

PRACTICE:
During the fall season, we will be practicing two to three times a week at Church Road field (definitely Friday’s).  Times and days may changes once in a while, depending on the coaches schedule.  The practice location will also change once the weather gets cooler.  All cheerleaders are expected to attend all of the practices to stay in sync with their teammates.

GAMES:
Football games are normally held on Saturdays.  We mainly cheer at home games and some away games.  We cheer for the tackle, unlimited, mighty might’s, and the flag program.

UNIFORMS:
Uniforms will be distributed by SBBGC.  They are to be used for the season and returned when the season is over.  There is a small user fee associated with the uniform rental.  Price is TBA.  There will be a few extra items the girls may need to purchase, but I will let you know.

FUNDRAISING:
All families are required to participate during the season.

COMPETITION:
Prince Georges County Boys and Girls Club hold an annual cheerleading competition at the University of Maryland, College Park (Cole Field House) in November.  Club participation is not a must, but is a great opportunity for the girls to showcase the skills they’ve learned all season long.

COACHES:
We are always looking for head coaches, assistant coaches, and Jr. coaches.  Although no experience is necessary, it is encouraged.
